Good Staff member vs . Good Looks
Cohen's disagreement that selecting based appears is incorrect. His debate states that hiring based on looks is okay and thats the way employees ought to be chosen. I do believe that people shouldn't be hired based on looks yet hired based upon their skill and capacity to get the job done. I do think its dainty, unfair, and wrong. In the end, no I actually don't go along with Cohen's discussion that people must be hired based on image.
Hiring based on looks is discerning in the way that individuals cant transform who they are and exactly how they look. Those that didn't " fit the standards” can be hurt psychologically. They would include self-esteem issues because the are constantly getting turned down by a job since they " aren't very enough”. Those who the looks would be approved even if that they didn't have the skill to accomplish the job. They can be technically staying paid to, as they say, stand around and appearance pretty.
One more why I actually disagree with Cohen's debate is because it is wrong and it gives persons wrong ideas. Id claim its wrong because mainly because if jobs only employed their workers based on all their image, they wouldn't stress about getting a college degree and didn't take school seriously. So why wouldn't they you ask? It would be because that they technically more than likely need an education to get a task. School more than likely be lenders priority. They wont gain the skill that they need to actually DO the job.
There are many, like me, that disagree with Cohen's debate, but in addition there are many who also agree with him. People may agree with him because to them it might be more " appealing to the eye” to walk into a shop and have appealing people travelling the store constantly. How appealing would it be if your product sales clerk failed to know what the lady was undertaking and made you pay extra or gave you less money back then the things you were supposed to get most because the girl couldn't estimate or make use of a cash register. Think about it.
On another note, there are many reasons why I no longer agree...
